What is Self Storage?
Self storage is a relatively new service in Costa Rica. A self storage facility contains a number of different sized storage rooms catered to a wide range of storage requirements for personal and business use.
Who is Smart minibodegas?
Smart minibodegas is a new self storage space that provides a state-of-the-art clean and secure facility, strategically located minutes away from Santa Ana Centro at the foot of the old road to Escazu. We are focused on offering high end solutions to our customers at competitive prices, with a modern architecture building that makes storage an extension of their homes or business.
I’ve never used self storage before. How does it work?
Self storage facilities rent space on a short or long-term basis to individuals or businesses. Rent starts on the day you move in and is prorated till the end of the month and moving forward. The rent is paid on the first of every month.
How secure are Smart minibodegas?
Smart minibodegas self-storage facilities use a range of modern security systems to make sure that anything stored with us is well looked after. We have monitored internal and external 24/7 onsite surveillance with high quality video cameras, electronically controlled security doors with key card with the most secure lock systems in the industry, so that we can control who has access to the storage facility.
2. ABOUT OUR STORAGE UNITS
How much space do I need?/ What size unit can I rent?
The amount of storage space you will require depends on what you need to store. We have a storage expert advisor available to make sure that you get the space you require that can vary from a 1.7m² locker to a 15 m² to 17.7 m2 room.
Do I need a padlock?
Yes, you can bring your own lock or you can buy a Chateau lock in our office. Chateau Inc. is the world’s leading provider of self storage security hardware. For security reasons we provide you with a safe key card to access your storage, with the most secure lock systems in the industry.
Who else has access to my storage unit?
The unit you rent is secured with your key card, so only you can decide who has access to your unit and who doesn’t. It’s our policy to never give anyone who isn’t on your rental agreement access.
When can I access my storage unit?
You can access Smart minibodegas self storage facilities 24/7.
Is there parking on site?
Yes. We offer onsite parking spaces for all our customers and visitors.
If I use the storage for my small business, do I have access to a meeting room?
Yes, we have a meeting room for rent that is perfect either for start-ups on their first steps out of home or established business as an alternative to traditional space.
How do I transport my goods to Smart minibodegas?
You can transport your goods for storage any way you choose. We have recommended removals and van hire parners that we can provide you. For more information please contact us.
How do I move my items from the parking lot to units?
Smart minibodegas offers a variety of trolleys and moving equipment starting from Platform Truck 440 lb capacity all the way to Steel Platform Swivel Truck with a 3000 lb Capacity and all from Chateau Inc., the world’s leading provider of self storage security hardware
What items cannot be stored?
You cannot store any hazardous, toxic, or illegal items. Also, no food or perishable items can be stored in our spaces. If in doubt of what can be stored in our spaces, please ask the property manager. Examples of items that cannot be stored are: Ammunition, gasoline, paint, paint thinner, propane, food, produce, plants, fireworks, etc.
¿Can motorcycles and vehicules be stored?
We do not have the proper conditions for storing motorcycles or vehicles. Our space is exclusively intended for the storage of smaller-scale personal or commercial belongings.
¿Are the storage units climate-controlled?
No, our storage units are not climate-controlled. However, the design of our facilities promotes excellent natural ventilation, as each unit has nearly one meter of space between the ceiling and the top of the unit, allowing constant airflow and helping maintain a cool environment. Additionally, the units are built with materials that help regulate the interior temperature. They are spacious, clean, and secure. Our well-organized and well-maintained environment supports the preservation of stored items.

How can I book my storage?
You can contact us through our contact form, detailing your needs, so our storage expert advisor can provide you with a quote, you can call us to +506 2438-5845 or you can visit Smart minibodegas during our office hours (Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm or Saturday from 8am to 12pm).
What payment methods do you accept?
Our payment options are designed to provide flexibility, security, and convenience, allowing access to our services from anywhere, whenever you need them. Payments are processed through automatic billing, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience.
How much does storage cost?
We have a wide variety of storage options from a 1.7m² locker to a 15m² to 17.7 m² room. All of them are competitively priced starting from $48.59 IVI per month.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Rent your unit for as long (or short) as you need! We offer month-to-month leases and bill in one-month increments. Our goal is to make your storage experience as simple and easy as possible.
Can I change the size of my storage space after I’ve moved in?
Yes, you can always speak with our storage expert advisor and we´ll find a way to accommodate to your needs.
I’m Ready to Move Out of my Unit – Do You Require Notice?
Although we hate to see anyone go, we make the move-out process as simple as possible. Just let us know you’re leaving and empty your room, and we’ll close out your account that day. As a courtesy, we ask that you give us at least 21 days’ notice before your intended move-out date.
